Moto Z Play goes official with all glass back, 50 hours of battery life, coming soon for $449

After leaking several times over the past few weeks, Lenovo has today officially announced the all-new Moto Z Play. This new mid-range Android device brings a new all glass back panel, extended battery life, and full compatibility with Moto Mods.

Under the hood, the Moto Z Play runs on top of a 2.0GHz octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM, more than powerful enough to run Android Marshmallow with the 5.5-inch 1080p SuperAMOLED display. Around back the Moto Z Play brings a 16MP camera with laser autofocus with a wide-angle front facing camera.

This is all pretty familiar, matching up closely with the Moto Z and Moto Z Force which debuted not too long ago. Where the Play really stands out is the battery life. Motorola/Lenovo has yet to specify the battery capacity on this device, but it has claimed a massive 50 hours of use on a single charge. By comparison, the 3,600 mAh Moto Z Force is only claimed at 40 hours, so the Play should be pretty impressive, to say the least. Of course, USB C and fast charging are still present on this device.

The Moto Z Play will debut exclusively on Verizon on September 8th. Pricing on Verizon lands at $408 retail or $17/month with Verizon’s payment options. Later on in October, the device will also be available unlocked for use of GSM network with pricing landing at $449.
