Samsung IFA press event invitation once again suggests a Gear S3 smartwatch incoming

We’ve known for months that Samsung has a refresh to its Gear S line coming at IFA, but now it’s all but confirmed. Following a couple of reports from SamMobile this week detailing some features the watch(es), the Korean company is now sending out invitations to its event at IFA 2016. The art of the invitation clearly shows a watch face, giving us one last indication that the long rumored Gear S3 is only a couple of weeks away…

A couple of weeks ago SamMobile reported that Samsung is planning to launch the Gear S3 at IFA, and also mentioned some of the device’s supposed features to appeal to those with an active lifestyle. The device is of course going to be circular with a rotary bezel like last year’s model, but recent reports out of the same outlet suggest that this year the device will come in three models. There will be the standard watch, but also a “Classic” variant (like last year), and a new “Explorer” variant.

Given all of this, it’s pretty clear what Samsung has planned — or, at least, one of the things it has planned — for its press conference at IFA at the end of this month. But to add to this, the company has now begun sending invites to the press for said event. One of the first publications to get their hands on this invite was Android Central, and as you can see below, the Korean company isn’t really trying to keep anything a secret.

If you’re dying to know what the Gear S3 will look like, you should check out some rather sketchy images that surfaced a couple of months ago, and of course some really ugly renders that first popped up 4 months ago.

We’re going to be on the ground at IFA once again this year, so be expecting more from us in the coming weeks as the big conference commences. We’ll be covering announcements from Lenovo, Huawei, Samsung, and plenty of other Android OEMs, so stay tuned.
