Sprint begins Android Marshmallow rollout for Galaxy Note 5 users

Following on from Verizon, Sprint has started pushing out the Android Marshmallow update to its Samsung Galaxy Note 5 users. Customers on the nation’s fourth largest carrier with Sammmy’s flagship phablet should see the update become available over the next couple of days.

As with most Samsung phones being updated to Marshmallow, Sprint’s Note 5 will get all the latest features, including ‘Doze’ mode for better battery standby performance and the granular app permissions. As well as the main Marshmallow improvements, the update comes with the revamped version of TouchWiz UI, Samsung’s custom Android skin.

Android Central notes that the update comes with a fairly hefty change-log and weighs in at an eye-watering 1.36GB in size. The new software includes the following features:

  • OS upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • New TouchWiz with updated visual design
  • Quick Connect to help find and connect to nearby devices
  • Securely protected fingerprints, requiring an alternative unlock method to add more fingerprints
  • Advanced power saving mode
  • New vibration pattern concept

If you’re on Sprint and using a Note 5, let us know in the new Disqus-powered comments below if you see the new software land on your phone, and how you like it.
