‘Signature Touch for Bentley’ is a Vertu Android phone with the car maker’s logo

In the early days of cellular telephones, phone carriers rampantly took smartphones from OEMs and branded them with logos and their own names. In 2016, British car company Bentley slapped a “3D logo” on an expensive Vertu smartphone, added a little bit of exclusive content, and called it a day…

The Signature Touch for Bentley is the result of a five year partnership the automaker has with the luxury smartphone company. This particular phone, first launched in September, has a Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage plus an included 64GB microSD card. It has a 21MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front-facer. Its 1080p 5.2-inch display (428PPI) is covered by a sapphire display and the phone has a 3160 mAh battery with Quick Charging via micro-USB. It runs a nearly year old Android 5.1 with no details regarding updates to Marshmallow.

The specs are actually pretty decent, but one doesn’t buy a Vertu for just that. The device is handmade in England, comes with a concierge service, and the Bentley edition is wrapped in “two-tone Beluga and Hotspur Bentley leather, with Hotspur stitching.” Additionally, there is a Bentley app that provides exclusive content and access to VIP events. The phone also has special features that provides integration with Bentley cars.

The cheapest Signature Touch in plain leather is $9,000 and goes up to as high as $19,000. Buyers will be able to customize the phone with a choice of eight leather colors and 16 stitching options. It’s safe to assume that the Bentley model will start in the five figure range.
