Exclusive Star Wars edition DROID Turbo 2 models will be available from Moto Maker [Update: They’re here]

Update: You can order the Star Wars editions of the DROID Turbo 2 from Verizon’s Motor Maker page from today.

With the upcoming premiere of the first Star Wars movie since the 90’s abominations we can’t mention by name, every brand on the planet is seemingly teaming up with Disney to produce their own Star Wars themed merchandise. Whether it’s LEGO, lampshades or mineral water, you can now get it with Star Wars branding all over it. Episode VII is launching in theaters next week, and Verizon and Motorola are the latest companies to jump on the bandwagon…

Droid-Life has learned that from tomorrow, you’ll be able to order a customized Star Wars-inspired DROID Turbo 2 from Motorola’s Moto Maker. Each specific character used as inspiration has its own color scheme and wallpaper that come loaded on your device when it ships. Whether you want the adorable BB-8 droid, Kylo Ren, Poe Dameron, Rey or the First Order Storm Trooper livery, you’ll be able to kit your phone out with the color schemes and materials shown below:

Of course, with Motorola this isn’t unchartered territory. A few years ago it released an R2-D2 inspired version of its DROID 2 handset. And with a name like DROID, the opportunity is too hard to miss.

Motorola and Verizon aren’t the first tech companies to get all Star Wars-mad. Even Google has used a partnership with Disney to bring custom themes to Street View, YouTube and other Google services. There are even Star Wars-themed Google Cardboard headsets.

Remember this DROID?

To order your Star Wars-inspired DROID Turbo 2, you’ll need to log on to the Moto Maker site tomorrow and choose one of the five available options. As a bonus, Verizon will make these wallpapers available to other customers soon, they’ll be made available via an app on the Play Store from tomorrow.
