Roundup: Cases already available for Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P

Google just announced its latest Nexus phones, and with new devices always comes the opportunity for accessory-makers to get busy producing cases for the shiny new smartphones. There’s no shortage of options for the Huawei Nexus 6P or the LG Nexus 5X. Whether you’re looking for official cases available on Google’s store, or cheaper alternatives, you should be able to find something to suit needs.

HUAWEI NEXUS 6P

Nexus 6P Folio – N/A

Of all the cases being offered by Google online, the Folio is arguably the most luxurious. In the words of Google, it’s a ‘refined leather folio’ which protects the entire device. It’s not available to order just yet, but when it is, it’ll be available in black and brown.

Nexus 6P Case – $34.99

The official Nexus 6P case is a plastic rear shell made by Adopted, which features an exterior lining made from microfiber and an attractive geometrical pattern. It’s designed to protect against drops and scrapes, but also feel really nice in your hand.

Nexus 6P protective case – $19.99

The 6P protective case, also made by Adopted, is designed to be light but also protective without costing you the earth. It’s available in two colors: Black or ‘Clear Frost’.

Speck CandyShell Grip – $39.99

Speck is well-known for making great cases, and has partnered with Google to make a new case for the Nexus 6P.

Verus High Pro Shield – $14.99

The Verus High Pro Shield offers a classy design, albeit one that’s ultimately just plastic. Its brushed metal effect is attractive, and it’s available in five different colors.

Supcase Heavy Duty – $12.99

It’s cheap and cheerful, but the Supcase heavy duty case has the industrial look normally left for the likes of Otterbox. It’s available in 5 color combinations, and combines polycarbonate and TPU to offer shock and impact resistance.

LG NEXUS 5X

Nexus 5X Folio – $39.99

Unlike the Folio case for 6P, the 5X version has a textured microfiber exterior to keep the phone in your hand securely, making it harder to drop. Like some of the other cases, it has the geometrical pattern on the outside.

Nexus 5X Case – $34.99

The standard official case is almost identical to the product of the same name for the Nexus 6P. It’s a plastic, rigid case with a textured microfiber lining on the exterior. As you’d expect, there are cutouts for all the essential parts; camera, fingerprint sensor, LED flash and laser autofocus sensor.

Protective Case– $19.99

The protective case for Nexus 5X is available in three colors: black, bright blue and clear frost. It’s designed to be light, thin and protective and is made almost entirely from an elastomer.

Speck CandyShell Grip – $34.99

Thanks to the 5X’s array of sensors on the back, the cutouts on the back Speck case look a little unusual, but are necessary. Still, the comfort, grip and protection offered by the CandyShell Grip series isn’t easy to find elsewhere.

Spigen Ultra Hybrid – $14.99

Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid series is an affordable way to keep your device protected, without adding much bulk and allowing you to see the entire phone underneath. It’s completely transparent, and has embossed buttons built in to make it easy to press the volume/power buttons on the side.

Spigen Thin Fit – $11.99

The Thin Fit by Spigen is a no-frills kind of case. Just a simple, single color plastic shell with cutouts for buttons and sensors. It’s understandably the cheapest case on this least, but is great if you just want minimal protection.

Verus High Pro Shield – $14.99

The Pro Shield by Verus offers a slightly unique design, with a brushed finish effect on the back with some subtle chrome trim and a metallic-effect frame. It’s available to order now in five different colors, but won’t ship until October 30th.
