CBS mobile apps now let you stream to Google Chromecast-connected TVs

CBS is updating its mobile apps today to allow users to stream directly to a TV connected to Google’s $30 Chromecast HDMI streaming device.

The app offers a ton of CBS content for all and also allows subscribers to CBS All Access, a $6/month service, to stream on-demand TV show episodes from current seasons as well as a back catalogue and live streams of local CBS stations in certain markets. Live streams are initially available in around 20 markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Philadelphia, and CBS says it has plans to add more every month.

Chromecast is the latest OTT device added to CBS’s digital distribution platforms. It joins CBS All Access’s recent launch on the Roku platform, in addition to CBS All Access’s availability online at CBS.com and on smartphones and tablets through the CBS App. CBS All Access will be available on more major connected device platforms in the coming months as well.

You’ll also be able to continue browsing in the CBS app while streaming content to the big screen via Chromecast. “Users also have the ability to simultaneously browse more episodes on the CBS App without interrupting the content they are watching through Chromecast.”

You can begin streaming content to Chromecast from the latest version of the CBS Android app (and iOS) now.
