KitKat hits 13.6% of devices in latest Android distribution numbers

Google has just released its monthly numbers on Android distribution and in it KitKat has jumped up to 13.6% of devices from just 8.5% in last month’s report. Google’s report includes data for a 7-day period ending today, so we’re thinking that the release of KitKat updates for a number of new devices in recent weeks had something to do with the rather significant jump up from last month’s stats.

Stats for other versions of Android this month include Jelly Bean at 59% down from 60.8% last month, but only at the expense of Android 4.1 as 4.2 and 4.3 are both slightly up. Ice Cream Sandwich comes in at 12.3% from 13.4% last mont, while Gingerbread and Froyo are both down.

The data doesn’t include devices running Android versions below 2.2 or versions that include less than 0.1% of distribution.
