Samsung launches Smartphone GamePad ready for its Galaxy lineup of devices

Samsung’s riding the Android game train all the way to the bank with the introduction of the new Smartphone GamePad and Mobile Console app. The GamePad and app are made specifically to “enhance the gaming experience on Samsung’s popular line of Galaxy devices. Launched in response to the rapidly expanding global mobile gaming market, Smartphone GamePad provides consumers with a fun, convenient, and advanced gaming experience anytime, anywhere.”

The GamePad will easily connect to Galaxy devices ranging from 4-6.3″ allowing users to play games wherever they are. Users will also be able to connect their Galaxy devices to their TV through a HDMI cable or AllShare Screen Mirroring for a “true” video game experience in their home.

The GamePad connects to smartphones and tablets through Bluetooth and is optimized for Android devices running Android 4.3 and above including the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. This is the second-generation mobile gaming controller Samsung has launched with the new model allowing for a whole new set of design cues. Samsung will launch the GamePad with 35 compatible games promising “much more to come in 2014.”

The GamePad is currently available in “select European markets” and will be available in “additional regions” in the coming weeks. Samsung says the availability of the GamePad will vary by market but failed to mention North America specifically.
