AT&T unveils two 4G LTE devices for the summer

AT&T this morning announced first two devices 4G LTE devices, both Mac compatible: A 4G LTE mobile hotspot and a 4G LTE USB modem. If you live in any of AT&T’s five 4G LTE markets (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, with more coming by the year’s end), you can take advantage of 4G LTE speeds. Those living outside the initial 4G LTE coverage needn’t worry because AT&T, as they say, will have the only combo LTE/HSPA+ network and both devices feature HSPA+ support as a fallback technology. “Our customers will receive a more consistent mobile broadband experience that supports simultaneous voice and data connections and higher speeds than others can provide outside their LTE footprint”, AT&T argues. More on the devices, availability and price points after the break.

The AT&T USBConnect Momentum 4G features plug-and-play installation of AT&T Communication Manager and access to AT&T’s entire national WiFi network. It will set you back fifty bucks after a two-year contract and a $50 mail-in-rebate. The other device, the AT&T Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G, connects up to five wireless clients to AT&T’s high-speed 4G LTE data network. The device includes a 1.77-inch display that lets you see device and connection status on the LCD, including battery status, signal strength and data usage. It will be available for $70 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate. Both Sierra Wireless-manufactured devices offer an expandable memory slot that supports microSD cards up to 32GB and global connectivity with data roaming in more than 200 countries at international roaming rates. AT&T will offer them “this summer” in company-owned retail stores and the online AT&T store.
